Education doesn’t start in college

Having read op-ed articles on higher education last month in the Sun by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and the chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education, Dan Klaich, you get the impression that they started the game in the fourth quarter.

A person has to master the first three quarters — grade school, the first quarter; middle school, the second quarter; high school, the third quarter — or else higher education is meaningless. Neither the governor nor the chancellor got where they are today by starting in the fourth quarter. Kids must master all grades even if it means taking a grade over!
