Metro officer put on paid leave after shooting at suspect

A Metro Police gang crimes officer is on paid administrative leave after shooting at a suspect Wednesday during a foot chase near Flamingo Road and Decatur Boulevard.

Officers were at the 5400 block of Retablo Avenue around 7:02 p.m. patrolling for gang activity when they attempted to stop two people who fled on foot, police said.

During the chase, one officer fired a single shot that missed the suspect, police said. The suspect was arrested without injury.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, police said. The officer who shot at the suspect has been placed on routine paid administrative leave. The name of the officer will be released two days after the incident in accordance with department policy.
