Letter to the editor:

99 percenters have right to anger

Since 2009, the “Republican strategy” has been to make sure nothing is done in Congress to help stop the foreclosure crisis or assist the more than 20 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed. It’s an effort to block President Barack Obama’s re-election in 2012.

The “99 percent” movement has legitimate grievances. The federal government depends on borrowing more than $1 trillion per year, inflation increased, wealth is concentrated in 1 percent of the population and none of it is trickling down.

Since manufacturing moved overseas, very little is made in the USA. Our federal government is dysfunctional, and Congress has been manipulated by corporations’ lobbyists who contribute to political campaigns.

The majority of Americans are angry now and worry about our nation’s future and leadership. It’s necessary to repair the economic catastrophe that was created because of the lack of oversight of Wall Street.
