Court hearings set for couple accused in death of man found in box

Two 20-year-olds arrested in California and extradited to Las Vegas in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in a box Nov. 9 on Fremont Street in Las Vegas are expected to be arraigned this week in Clark County District Court.

Anthony Stiger and Melanie Costantini, both of Las Vegas, were arrested Nov. 14 on suspicion of slaying Harold Shilberg, 58, of Las Vegas, Metro Police said. The couple is believed to be married and have a 2-year-old child. Stiger and Costantini were extradited Nov. 23 from California and are now in the Clark County Detention Center.

The suspects have been charged with felony counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder with a deadly weapon, according to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

Stiger is scheduled to have a fugitive court hearing at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday before Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure. Costantini is scheduled to be arraigned at 8 a.m. Wednesday before Justice of the Peace Joe Sciscento.
