Police investigating double shooting at Lake Mohave

Shooting

Metro Police found a woman dead from gunshot wounds and another man with serious injuries Tuesday morning at Six Mile Cove at Lake Mohave, officials said.

Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said officers responded to Six Mile Cove, a beach area east of Searchlight, at 9:16 a.m.

A male camper with possible gunshot injuries apparently yelled to another camper to call police this morning, Martin said.

National Park Service rangers, Metro Police and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded and found the male camper and a woman face down in the sand along the beach, park service spokesman Andrew Munoz said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. The man, who had multiple gunshot wounds, was airlifted to an area hospital.

Based on information authorities were able to glean from the injured man, investigators believe a third person shot the victims, Munoz said.

A language barrier prevented authorities from getting more information, so investigators are waiting to interview the male victim at the hospital, Munoz said. His condition, however, wasn’t immediately known.

Police received reports that people in the area had heard possible fireworks or gunshots last night, Martin said.

The investigation is ongoing.
