My jaw dropped when I heard Sen. Harry Reid say that private-sector jobs are doing just fine. I watched the complete video, not just an excerpt. I realize he was backing a jobs bill for public-sector jobs but, come on, let’s get real.
Are the members of Culinary 226, engineers, carpenters, pipe fitters, plumbers and laborer unions all doing just fine? Has there been a spike in employment that I have not heard about? Have the jobs come back? Are not these same unions the core of Sen. Reid’s constituency? What happened?
Comments such as Reid’s just reinforce the general belief and the Tea Party assertion that Washington is out of touch with the electorate. So I guess now we can just eat cake.
