Carolyn Ellsworth named to replace Judge Jackie Glass

CARSON CITY – Carolyn Ellsworth, an attorney experienced in government and the gaming industry, has been named by Gov. Brian Sandoval to replace Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass who resigned.

Ellsworth, 56, is presently administrator of the securities division in the Secretary of State’s Office. She assists in investigation of licensees, preparing enforcement orders and representing the division in court.

She worked for the Clark County District Attorney’s office from 1979 to 1990. From 1990 to 2000, she served as vice president, Mirage Resorts Risk Management and also was assistant general counsel to Mirage Resorts.

Sandoval said, “With three decades of law experience, Carolyn’s understanding of Nevada law will be extremely valuable.”

She was one of three recommended to the governor by the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection. The others were Michael Davidson in private practice in Las Vegas and Adriana Escobar in the fraud unit of the Attorney General’s Office.

Judge Glass left the court to take over as host of the nationality syndicated court television program “Swift Justice.”
