North Las Vegas teen ID’d as victim in shooting Tuesday

Gunshot investigation

A gunshot victim who died Tuesday night has been identified as a North Las Vegas teen.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office said Sergio Gauna, 18, died from a gunshot wound to his torso. His death was ruled a homicide.

Metro Police said Gauna arrived at North Vista Hospital about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday via private transportation. His arrival occurred about 20 minutes after dispatchers received a call reporting gunshots fired less than two miles from the hospital — in the 2800 block of Constantine Avenue, near Washington and Eastern avenues, police said.

Patrol officers responded to Constantine Avenue and discovered shell casings on the ground and a vehicle apparently struck by gunfire, officials said. Homicide detectives began an investigation and determined that both incidents appear to be related.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police had not made any arrests.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
