The Gold Rush is now a Wildfire.

The revamped Henderson casino will open under the name Wildfire Sunset at 7 p.m. Sept. 1. The former Gold Rush, which closed in June, received a complete makeover to fit in with three other casinos operated under the Wildfire name by Station Casinos.

While the casino at 1195 W. Sunset Road is located next to the larger Sunset Station, it will attract a different clientele. Although both cater to locals, Station officials say the Wildfire brand offers a more intimate, neighborhood feel than its larger casinos.

Wildfire casinos combine sports books, lounges and a Wildburger restaurant. The revamped casino will also include 150 slot and video poker games. New games include Megabucks, Texas Tea and video slot machines.

Station Casinos acquired eight gaming properties between 1996 and 2005 that now operate under its Wildfire Division, including the Gold Rush. Others are Days Inn at Wild Wild West, Barley’s Casino & Brewery, Wildfire Rancho, Wildfire Boulder, Wildfire Lanes and The Greens.
