Harry Reid: Next 2 days critical in ‘fiscal cliff’ talks

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says the next two days are critical for the White House and Congressional Republicans to reach agreement over automatic tax increases and spending cuts set to take effect Jan. 1.

The Nevada Democrat says unless the stalemate changes in 48 hours, he believes it will signal a decision by Republicans "to go over" the so-called fiscal cliff.

Reid told The Associated Press on Wednesday GOP leaders are trying to pull a fast one on tax rates for the wealthy. He likened the political drama to the "Peanuts" comic strip when Lucy keeps tricking Charlie Brown into trying to kick a football, only to pull it away.

Reid said President Obama and Democrats won't "kick that football."
