Police exchange gunfire with man at convenience store

Three robberies and an officer-involved shooting Monday morning ended with one man in custody and a list of unanswered questions, Metro Police said. No one was injured when the man shot at an officer, who returned fire, police said.

The first robbery was reported about 1:30 a.m. at a 7-Eleven in the 6300 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, Metro Police Officer Laura Meltzer said.

A second call of a robbery of an individual, either inside or outside another 7-Eleven, this one in the 4600 block of East Charleston Boulevard, came in about 10 minutes later, Meltzer said.

Police flooded the area and at about 1:50 a.m., an officer saw an altercation at a Rebel gas station where another robbery had been reported in the 4300 block of East Charleston Boulevard, police said. The officer followed the man in his squad car behind the gas station, Meltzer said.

When the suspect turned and fired multiple shots, the officer returned fire, but no one was hit, Meltzer said.

Officers were able to take the suspect into custody, police said. Meltzer said it is unclear if the suspect might have been involved in the robberies.
