Six people, including 4-year-old, hurt in 3-car crash on I-15

Updated Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 | 4:54 p.m.

A three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 15 South sent six people – including a 4-year-old girl in critical condition – to the hospital, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A silver four-door sedan collided with a Toyota pickup truck about 1:45 p.m. at the Blue Diamond Road exit, Lt. Loy Hixson said. A third vehicle – a Chevrolet Blazer SUV – then hit the sedan, he said.

The woman driving the sedan was airlifted to University Medical Center, and a 4-year-old female passenger was transported by ambulance to the hospital, Hixson said. As of about 4:30 p.m., the woman is in stable condition and the girl in critical condition, he said.

A male driver of the Toyota pickup, and the three people in the Chevrolet SUV also were sent to UMC with minor injuries, Hixson said.

The accident closed lanes on southbound Interstate 15 for a couple of hours, causing traffic tieups in the area, but the freeway is again open to traffic.
