Police search for man in theft of cash register

Metro Police are looking for a man who stole a cash register from a business earlier this month.

At about 10 p.m. on Dec. 18, the man went into the store in the 6100 block of Vegas Drive, bought a beer and left, police said.

A short time later, he returned and asked if he could exchange the beer for a different kind, police said.

As the store employee was making the transaction, the man dove over the counter and grabbed the cash register, police said. The employee struggled with the man before eventually being overpowered, police said.

The man escaped with the cash register and an undisclosed amount of money, police said. The employee was injured, but police did not give further details.

The man is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 160 to 180 pounds and 35 to 45 years old. He was wearing a winter bomber hat, a gray jacket, black pants, a black glove on his left hand and black and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Police at (702) 828-3591 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or crimestoppersofnv.com.
