Gaming Control Board files complaint against small Carson City casino

CARSON CITY — The state Gaming Control Board has filed a five-count complaint against a small casino in Carson City, accusing it of not keeping regulators abreast of hirings and firings at the club.

The complaint seeks a fine of $25,000 to $250,000 for each alleged violation and disciplinary action against the license of High Sierra Brewing Company, which has 17 slot machines.

It is the first complaint of the new year.

In 2011, the board brought only one disciplinary action against a casino. In 2010, there were 16 complaints filed against clubs for alleged violations of gaming regulations.

The board alleges the casino failed to notify the state when general managers and key employees left and replacements were hired.

The licensee has the opportunity to answer the complaint and ask for a hearing.
