High to hit 60 today in Las Vegas Valley, say forecasters

High pressure to keep temperatures warmer than normal through the week

Sunny skies with highs climbing to about 60 degrees are starting out the week in the Las Vegas Valley this week, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said lighter winds and slightly warmer daytime temperatures can be expected today as an area of high pressure builds over the region.

The high pressure will lead to dry weather, with temperatures slightly above normal through the week, forecasters said.

The weather service is expecting highs today ranging from around 57 degrees on the west side of the valley to around 62 degrees on the east side.

This morning’s low at McCarran was expected to be 39 degrees, which is the normal low for today's date . The record low was 11 degrees, set in 1937.

Temperatures at McCarran were to rise today to 47 degrees by 9 a.m., to 57 degrees by noon and reach a high of 60 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 57 degrees and the record high was 72 degrees, set in 1945.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 53 degrees by 6 p.m., to 46 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 42 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Tuesday's morning low will be 38 degrees and Tuesday's high will climb to 60 degrees, they said.
