Letter to the editor:

Arizona sheriff just doing his job

The Jan. 11 “Heard Elsewhere,” which was the Los Angeles Times’ editorial about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, was not surprising. With L.A. being a hotbed of illegal immigration one can see why the L.A. Times would lash out at Sheriff Arpaio. It seems media and advocates of immigration lawbreakers love to point the finger at someone who enforces laws against their cause.

Sheriff Arpaio is obviously assertive in carrying out his sworn duties. Is that too much to ask of a civil servant? Most people bash lazy, do-nothing workers like our fine Congress and the Obama administration, which lets the immigration issue lag on.

Go ahead, bad-mouth the sheriff for doing a hard job and doing a good job of immigration enforcement. My parents always told me to choose a career that I would like doing and do a good job of doing it, kind of like Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

To Sheriff Arpaio, I say, “You go, Joe!”
