Jason of Beverly Hills unveiled a new steak knife covered in sapphires for VIPs dining at the STK steakhouse at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The knife was unveiled July 2, 2012. It joined a diamond covered knife, also designed by Jason of Beverly Hills, to create a his-and-hers set for the restaurant.

Rock star Gavin Rossdale described the bejeweled steak knife at STK this way:
"It cut like a knife but glitters like the best girl," the lead singer of Bush wrote in a notebook for the steakhouse at the Cosmopolitan.
Now, STK can offer Rossdale's wife, Gwen Stefani, a fancy knife of her own, should the couple wish to dine together.
Celebrity jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills unveiled a steak knife swathed in sapphires this week to match one covered in diamonds that Rossdale and other VIPs have used at STK to cut their steak.
"Now, we've got a pair so they can both have one," said Jesse Mancha, general manager of the Jason of Beverly Hills store in the Cosmopolitan.
The new knife, unveiled Monday night, contains 300 sapphires weighing 6.5 carats. It took 300 hours to make in Los Angeles. The set would carry a retail price of about $30,000 — if it was for sale.
"You can't buy them, and you can't ask for them," said Tyra Bell-Holland of the One Group, which runs STK. "They are provided by invitation only."
The idea for the bejeweled knives came up during a conversation over drinks with Jason of Beverly Hills' Jason Arasheben, Bell-Holland said. Arasheben had designed jeweled silverware for the princess of Saudi Arabia.
"Why not do the same for a steakhouse?" he wondered.
STK, known for its DJ music and nightclub crowd, jumped at the opportunity to have the fanciest steak knives on the Strip.
"It wouldn't go over everywhere, but it works in Las Vegas," Bell-Holland said. "And nowhere else in Vegas is there anything else like this."
When STK had only one knife, celebrity couples, including LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, had to share.
"Now the only argument will be which one to choose," Bell-Holland said.
