One of the victims in a Thursday night shooting in the northeast valley has died, Metro Police reported Friday afternoon.

Officials said Metro Police dispatch received a call about shots being fired around 9:40 p.m. at the 6900 block on Hopkins Drive near Hollywood Boulevard and Carey Avenue. Officials said a man had been shot in the chest and was rushed to the University Medical Center trauma unit in critical condition. He died a few hours later, Metro reported. The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and cause and manner of death after an autopsy.
