Driver in Friday accident died of natural causes, coroner rules

The Las Vegas man who died Friday after crashing his sedan into a traffic signal pole in the eastern valley has been identified.

David E. Cooper, 65, died of natural causes related to heart disease and diabetes, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Around 9:45 p.m. Friday, Cooper swerved off the road at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Perry Street and hit the pole, Metro Police said. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. A female passenger was also injured in the incident.
