Fire

A late-night fire Monday downtown Las Vegas destroyed a guest house and a motor home, and left one firefighter injured.

Firefighters responded to the incident at 11:21 p.m. at 1704 Poplar Ave., said Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski.

Firefighters brought the fire under control approximately 30 minutes after arrival, Szymanski said. A motor home and guesthouse were destroyed, and the main home was damaged. Damages were estimated at $75,000.

One firefighter was injured when a nail went through his boot. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The fire started in the guest home due to an unattended stove, according to fire investigators.

The Red Cross is assisting six adults and four children who were displaced by the fire.
