Stratosphere restaurant going from tacos to steaks

The Back Alley Bar is going uptown — from taco joint to steakhouse. And with the change, comes new jobs.

The casual bar that was located just off the casino floor at the Stratosphere is getting a makeover as McCall’s Heartland Grill, set to open this fall.

The restaurant will feature a seafood and steak menu that casino officials describe as a combination of “coastal and Midwestern influences.”

The concept was created by Stratosphere Executive Chef Rick Giffen and Vice President of Food and Beverage Matthew Mascali as the latest addition in a $20 million makeover that began last year at the iconic resort on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.

American Casinos & Entertainment Properties, owners of the Stratosphere, is taking online applications for newly created jobs, including cooks, restaurant servers, bussers, bartenders, bar backs, hosts and beverage servers.
