UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck talks to his team after the Rebels spring football game Friday, April 20, 2012.

UNLV football will play a big nonconference game at the Big House in 2015.

The Rebels will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a game against the University of Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, the schools announced Wednesday.

UNLV needed to fill some holes in its upcoming nonconference schedules after Navy canceled a four-year series that was scheduled to run from 2014 to 2017. The Rebels, who have only played in the Eastern time zone once since 2004 (at West Virginia in 2010), are guaranteed $1 million for their trip to one of the most storied college programs in the country.

Michigan has some recent history with the Mountain West as the Wolverines played San Diego State last season and will play Air Force at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 8 this year. Michigan is led by former Aztec coach Brady Hoke.

This will be the first football meeting between UNLV and Michigan. The Rebels’ other meetings with current Big 10 teams include 10 games against Wisconsin, most recently last year’s 51-17 loss in Madison, two games against Northwestern, one with Nebraska and this year’s season-opening home game against Minnesota, which is set for 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

Season tickets for this season are on sale at 702-739-3267. Special Value Zone Season Tickets are available for $90. Mini-plans and group sales will go on sale in early July with single-game tickets going on sale in late July.
