Widow of casino magnate William Harrah dies

Verna Harrah, widow of casino magnate Bill Harrah, died Friday, according to a representative of Middle Fork Productions, a film production company Verna Harrah founded.

Verna Harrah was instrumental in getting the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV named after her husband.

Middle Fork Productions was responsible for producing a number of movies, including "Anaconda" in 1997 and "The Canyon," in 2009, according to imdb.com.

William Harrah died in 1978, according to the UNLV Center for Gaming Research.
