Classics to dives: A photo tour of eight kinds of strip clubs in Las Vegas

From mega-club to dives to classics, meet Vince Neil’s competition

Chicas Bonitas dancer Liz takes the stage at Chicas Bonitas strip club in North Las Vegas on Thursday, May 19, 2011.

Today marks the addition of Vince Neil's Girls, Girls, Girls to the Las Vegas strip club scene.

The new property distinguishes itself by specializing in the kind of tattooed, leather-clad goddesses suited to a rock star's taste -- which, of course, the Motley Crue frontman knows a thing or two about. But with strip clubs seemingly around every corner here, Girls, Girls, Girls isn't the only joint to offer a distinct brand of skin.

So how does the competition stack up? Here's a guide to eight kinds of strip clubs that help give Sin City its name.

    • The mega-club: Sapphire

With 70,000 square feet of topless entertainment, Sapphire boasts the title of the largest gentlemen's club in the world. Its main room, about half the size of a football field, is decked out with plush seating, massive video screens and elevated pole stages. The club is favored by the likes of Deadmau5 and other celebrities and is known for its attentive staff and, of course, hundreds of lovely ladies. If you can manage to choose, take one (or three) back to a VIP skybox for a more intimate experience overlooking the main floor. 3025 Industrial Road, Las Vegas, 89109

    • The mini-dive: Club Platinum

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's Club Platinum, which arguably holds the titles for the tiniest and divey-est strip club in Las Vegas. The single-room club is more or less the size of a fast food drive-thru, and its faded facade, cheap banner and generally abandoned-looking appearance do bring the word "front" to mind. Still, locals have hailed the joint for its cheap drinks, low-key vibe and close proximity (three blocks) to the Strip. 311 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, 89109

    • The iconic club: Larry Flynt's Hustler Club

Behold the club borne from the adult industry's most notorious empire. A mega-club in its own right (its square footage rivals that of Sapphire), Flynt declared the Las Vegas location of the 25-club national chain to be the most expensive gentlemen's club ever built. Hustler describes itself as an "erotic events center," and, indeed, it's a one-stop shop: After spending some time inside the lavishly decorated main club, you can pop into its 25,000-square-foot Hustler Hollywood store and take the party home with you. 5969 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas, 89118

    • The classic: Cheetah's

If you don't want to go to Cheetah's for the showgirls, at least go for "Showgirls." The venue is the strip club featured in the 1995 cult classic. With its more intimate size, delightfully tacky neon signage and (true to the film) some of the most impressive feats of pole dancing in town, Cheetah's is an indisputable strip club classic. 2112 Western Ave., Las Vegas, 89102

    • The club for boys who like boys: Share

This ain't no Chippendale's. Though Share isn't strictly geared toward adult entertainment, it is the only LGBT nightclub in town with a strip club license. The sleek, hip venue boasts a club, bar and ultra lounge across two floors, with the second floor home to the intimate lounge where gorgeous guys take it all off. And, as its name implies, Share welcomes people of all genders and orientations. 4636 Wynn Road, Las Vegas, 89103

    • The Green Door

      The Green Door

The swinger's club: The Green Door

Don't let the "adult health spa" euphemism fool you: the Green Door is the largest sex club in the country and requires a monthly or yearly membership if you want to romp around its 18,000-square-foot adult playground. The club features theme rooms like "the dungeon," "the doctor's office" and "the voyeur room," and there's few fantasies the Green Door won't cater to. So, OK, maybe they don't employ any strippers, but there are plenty of poles at your disposal. If you're not in the mood to swing, Green Door also hosts events like a comedy show and instructional classes. 953 E. Sahara Ave., Suite B27/28, Las Vegas, 89104.

    • The landmark: Can Can Room

If you should ever find yourself on a tour of Vegas' adult landmarks, the Can Can Room will be among the top stops. As its billboards boast, the club is the oldest fully nude club in town. Patrons can indulge in five stages and seven fantasy theme rooms, although be warned that the staff is notorious for their hard-hustling ways. 3155 Industrial Road, Las Vegas, 89109

    • The couple's club: Olympic Garden

Despite calling itself a gentlemen's club, Olympic Garden is the first strip club designed to cater to men and women and is known for its couples-friendly atmosphere. The venue's first floor is for gents and the second is for ladies, although you're free to mix and mingle. O.G. features the reputed "Topless Cabaret," as well as the "Men of O.G." revue and, unsurprisingly, specializes in throwing bachelor and bachelorette parties. 1531 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, 89104
