Police say mother arrested after baby nearly drowns in tub

Metro Police arrested a mother after her 7-month-old baby nearly drowned Friday in a bathtub, authorities said.

Lori Lee Martinez, 28, of Las Vegas, was arrested on arrested on a count of felony child neglect and booked at the Clark County Detention Center, police said.

Officers were called to a residence near Owens Avenue and H Street about 12:40 p.m., police said.

The child had been left in a bathtub unattended at a home in the 900 block of Silverman Way, police said.

According to police when Martinez returned to the bathroom she found her baby submerged and not breathing.

The baby was breathing and alert when transported to University Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
