Lords of Las Vegas Book Signing Lifelong local Kurt Divich writes about deceit, adultery and the “boiling cauldron that is Las Vegas politics” in his debut novel. Get a hot copy—and his signature—at Le Book Nook. May 17, 5-7 p.m.

See

Astro Zombies M4: Invaders From Cyber Space B-movie legend Ted V. Mikels made the original Astro-Zombies in 1968, and now he’s back with the brand-new fourth film in the series. Mikels is a Vegas institution, and he and the local cast and crew will be on-hand for a Q&A after the screenings. May 20, 2:30 & 5 p.m., free, Theatre 7. Email [email protected] for tickets.

The Diary of Anne Frank One of history’s most powerful stories hits town for one night only as part of the Jewish Repertory Theatre’s “Sundays at the Smith” series. Bring Kleenex. May 20, 2 & 5 p.m., $27-$37, Smith Center’s Troesh Studio Theater, 749-2000.

Hear

Buddy Guy Even if you thought last year’s Rolling Stone Greatest Guitarists lists was hooey, you’ve gotta respect the bluesman who placed 23rd. Guy turns 76 this summer, but he’s still a captain of his craft and a showman like few others. With Quinn Sullivan, May 19, 8 p.m., $26-$79, Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue Troy Andrews earned his nickname as a 4-year-old in New Orleans, where he walked around with a horn longer than his body. He’s grown since, in size and in stature—these days he’s recognized as a master of his instrument. See him at Jazz in the Park. May 19, 7:15 p.m., free, Government Center Amphitheater.

Eat

Truck Takeover at Tivoli Five local food trucks pair up with five restaurants for Street Food Throwdown 7. Their collaborations will be judged by BMX pro Ricardo Laguna, Strip star Angel Porrino and TV guy Tedd Florendo, but you can eat it, too. May 20, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Tivoli Village, streetfoodthrowdown.com.
