CARSON CITY — Dale Erquiaga, senior adviser to Gov. Brian Sandoval, has resigned effective in July and intends to move to Arizona to be near his children.

His duties will be split between two present staff members, officials said.

Tyler Klimas will coordinate legislative issues, manage cabinet communications and meetings, and assist with board and commission appointments. He has served as an agency liaison and in constituent services for Sandoval and worked on his campaign.

Lucas Foletta, who has been general counsel in Sandoval’s office, will coordinate the governor’s policy agenda and work on agency liaisons. He will retain his general counsel duties.

Foletta is a former assistant U.S. attorney and a former law clerk to Sandoval when he was a federal judge.

The governor said he understands the difficulties Erquiaga faces being away from his children. He said he will miss Erquiaga’s insight, experience and wisdom.

Erquiaga has been with Sandoval since he took office.
