Collision on Boulder Highway kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist died after a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Boulder Ranch Avenue around 7 p.m. on Friday.

Metro Police officials said the motorcyclist, a 69-year-old Las Vegas man, was traveling southbound on Boulder Highway when he collided with a 2008 Mercedes Benz that was turning left onto northbound Boulder Highway from a posted stop sign at eastbound Boulder Ranch Avenue. Police identified the driver of the Mercedes as Violet Martinez, 32, of Las Vegas.

Officials said the motorcyclist was taken to Sunrise Hospital and later pronounced dead.

This was the 90th traffic-related fatality in the Metro Police jurisdiction in 2012. The case remains under investigation.
