Moapa Valley running back Conner Mortensen dives into the endzone for a touchdown against Blue Ridge High during the second quarter of the 2012 AIA Sollenberger Classic football game on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Conner Mortensen rushed for three touchdowns and added a 67-yard punt return as Moapa Valley cruised to another blowout victory with a 65-0 rout of Pahrump Valley in the opening round of the Division-IA playoffs Thursday.

It marked the 10th consecutive time the Pirates (10-1) have posted more than 40 points against an opponent.

“We came out firing on all cylinders,” Moapa Valley coach Brent Lewis said. “I’m disappointed Pahrump didn’t put more of a fight.”

The Pirates host Mojave in the next round of the tournament, and Lewis expects a better game from an improved Rattlers’ squad.

“The blowout times are over,” he said. “Mojave is looking to be a good challenge for us. They’re very athletic physical and quick. We’re going to be challenged for the first time legitimately since the first game of the season. The kids are looking forward to it. I’m thinking they think this is easy, so it’ll be nice to have a challenge.”
