One person was trapped and died after a car crash early Sunday, and a second person was taken to a hospital.
The crash occurred at 2:42 a.m. at West Charleston Boulevard and Shadow Lane, Metro Police said in a news release.
Police said a 2007 Nissan Altima and a 1999 Ford F-150 hit each other head-on as the Altima went east on Charleston Avenue and the westbound Ford turned south onto Shadow Lane.
The driver of the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police won't identify the driver until the family is notified.
Tatiana Taylor, 23, the driver of the Ford, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police said this is the 93rd fatality from a traffic crash in 2012. The crash still is under investigation.
