Football handicapping contests are inescapable in Las Vegas this time of year.
Because of ever-increasing demand, different variations of competitions asking participants to pick games are available at every corner.
The Las Vegas Sun sports staffers figured they were overdue. It was time to join in on the tradition.
For the next three months, Case Keefer, Ray Brewer and Taylor Bern will make six NFL picks per week. Sides and totals are accepted, with the lines coming from William Hill US sports books. Thursday night games are ineligible, as the column will regularly run on Fridays.
Unfortunately, the prize pool fell short of the LVH Supercontest’s record $1.11 million this year. They’ll have to settle for bragging rights and maybe a lunch or two.
Three plays were particularly popular for week one. Two of the three competitors selected Kansas City +3 at home against Atlanta, Green Bay -4 hosting San Francisco and Pittsburgh +1.5 traveling to Denver.
Find all of the week one picks below. They are listed in order of kickoff time.
