A man suspected of stabbing and beating a handicapped man to death at the intersection of H Street and Weaver Avenue on Friday was arrested and charged with murder, a Metro Police arrest report states.

Witnesses told Metro Police that Louis Marks, 45, had allegedly beaten, stabbed and thrown the victim to the ground and stomped on him several times, the report stated. He then threw the victim’s electric wheelchair on top of him and chased another man who had attempted to stop him from beating the handicapped man, the report stated.

The victim was left lying in the gutter with several stab wounds, the report stated. He was later transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Metro Police arrested Marks near the intersection of H Street and Owens Avenue. A blue folding knife, which Marks claimed to carry in his right pocket, was found near the crime scene and stained with blood, the report stated.

Marks said he did not recall being in a fight with anyone, how his knife went missing or how he got blood on his shorts, the report stated. He told police he had attended a nearby wake for one of his friends, where he drank alcohol and smoked marijuana and PCP, the report stated. He said he had walked to a nearby liquor store to gamble, and he was arrested when he exited.

Marks was booked into Clark County Detention Center and faces one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
