Metro Police arrested a 62-year-old man suspected of beating a man to death outside his home near Nellis Boulevard and Harmon Avenue on Tuesday.

A police officer had been on his way to investigating the report of a dead man lying in the front courtyard of 5130 Margo Drive, when he spotted David Magyar sitting outside a nearby residence with grocery bags, a police arrest report released Wednesday said. A witness said he saw a man in his 50s leave his home carrying grocery bags.

The officer approached Magyar and discovered his face, palms and neck had dried blood on them, the report said. He also had Walmart grocery bags filled with a car jack, hammer jack, dolly, bricks and shoes with blood on them. The witness later identified Magyar, the report said.

Police arrested Magyar and issued a search warrant.

The report said one brick in his bag had blood splatter on it, while the other was soaked in blood. Both matched bricks found outside the home. Clothes in Magyar’s bag were also covered in blood, and he had scratch marks on his back and chest and other abrasions over his body, the report said.

Magyar was booked at Clark County Detention Center and charged with murder with a deadly weapon.
