A Metro Police patrol car cruising to a call with its lights flashing and siren blaring collided with another car Monday at the intersection of Nellis and Charleston boulevards, Metro Police officials said.

The collision occurred about 6:30 p.m. Police said the patrol car was traveling on Nellis Boulevard when it collided with an SUV going the opposite direction at the intersection.

The patrol car was responding to a critical situation, but police could not confirm what the situation was. The officer was transported to University Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The SUV driver was uninjured, police said.
