Colorado Springs plates two in ninth inning to halt 51s’ winning streak

The Las Vegas 51s were three outs away from their fifth straight win Sunday but surrendered two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning in an 8-7 loss at Colorado Springs.

Tyler Colvin’s two-run single with the bases loaded and no outs gave the Sky Sox the victory.

Outfielder Jamie Hoffmann continued his hot hitting for Las Vegas, leading the 51s with two hits and three RBIs. On Friday, Hoffmann had two hits and three runs scored.

Juan Lagares hit a leadoff home run for Las Vegas in the back-and-forth game. The 51s scored three times in the seventh inning to take a 7-6 lead but didn’t get an out in the ninth in suffering the loss.

The third game of the four-game series is Monday. Las Vegas returns to Cashman Field on Thursday.
