Hit-and-run crash near Las Vegas Strip kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist is dead after he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash near the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Sahara Avenue near Van Patten Street, about a half-mile east of the Strip, Metro Police Lt. John Liberty said.

According to initial investigations, a red Volkswagen Touareg struck the 20-year-old motorcyclist before fleeing the scene, Liberty said.

The motorcyclist was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Liberty said there are no suspects in custody and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
