Death of man found in trash bin ruled a homicide

The death of a man whose body was found in a trash bin on Monday has been ruled a homicide, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported.

The victim was identified as Carl Pane Simon, 50. He died of asphyxiation and blunt head trauma, the Coroner’s Office reported.

His body was discovered about 5 p.m. Monday in a trash bin near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards, Metro Police said. The investigation into the slaying is ongoing.
