Driver killed after running red light at Arville and Oakey

A driver died Thursday night after running a red light and colliding with another vehicle, according to Metro Police.

At 9:21 p.m. a male driving a 1997 Buick Park Avenue was traveling north on Arville Street and ignored a red light at Oakey Boulevard, witnesses told Metro Police.

A 42-year-old male in a 2002 Dodge Dakota headed east on Oakey Boulevard struck the Buick on the left side, sending both vehicles spinning in the intersection, according to Metro Police.

Medical personnel pronounced the driver of the Buick, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of family, dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge was transported to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
