Pahrump Valley handles Chaparral in opener

Scott Maughan carried the ball 28 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns today in leading the Pahrump Valley football team to a 28-6 victory against visiting Chaparral in the season opener for both Division I-A schools.

Tae Tae Brown had a defensive touchdown for the Trojans, scoring on a 42-yard fumble recovery. A.J. Segura had the other Pahrump Valley touchdown, scoring on a 1-yard run.

Pahrump had 208 yards of offense in grinding out the win.

Pahrump returns to action Sept. 7 by hosting Desert Pines, which blanked Western today, 61-0.
