Flooding closes Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump

A section of State Route 160 is submerged in 3 feet of mud, debris and water tonight causing it to be closed indefinitely.

A flash flood dumped a 50-foot-wide stretch of debris and mud onto State Route 160 about halfway to Pahrump from Las Vegas. Three vehicles reported being stuck in the mud after they attempted to cross the mucky roadway, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott said.

Traffic is being diverted to State Route 159 for motorists trying to get to Pahrump.

Nevada Department of Transportation has responded to determine how to clear the debris and mud. In the meantime, Elliott said the road is closed indefinitely.
