Portion of Las Vegas Boulevard closed after pedestrian is hit

A pedestrian hit by a car around noon Friday has been taken to the hospital, according to Metro Police.

At 12:13 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a sedan at Formemaster Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard, near the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center with what were described as critical injuries but is expected to survive, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

Las Vegas Boulevard between Foremaster Lane and Searles Avenue is closed in both directions, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
