The Shadow Ridge High football team’s 25-6 loss to visiting Snow Canyon of Utah today to open the season was a lot closer than the final score indicates.

The Mustangs had three touchdowns called back — the result of some first-game mistakes.

“That’s the difference of the game right there,” Shadow Ridge coach Frank Tousa said of the reversed touchdowns. “We had some stupid penalties, but it’s stuff we can clean up.”

J Henderson scored the Shadow Ridge touchdown in the second quarter on a 76-yard reception from Dustin Puia to trim the Mustangs’ deficit to 13-6 before halftime.

However, they wouldn’t score again.

“But the kids battled the whole game. They didn’t give up,” Tousa said.

Shadow Ridge returns to action Sept. 7 against Rancho.
