Fire damages 6 units at Henderson apartment complex

Apartment fire

Fourteen people were displaced from their apartments Saturday after a fire damaged six apartment complex units in Henderson.

Henderson Fire responded about 8:30 a.m. to the apartment complex at East Sunset Road and Annie Oakley Drive. Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke rising from multiple windows of a second-floor apartment, Henderson Fire officials said.

The radiant heat and volume of smoke affected nearby apartments and trapped two occupants on their second-floor balcony. Firefighters rescued the couple with ground ladders, then extinguished the fire, officials said. Clark County Fire assisted with the response.

Four occupants in the building were treated on the scene, and two were also taken to a local hospital.

The fire caused about $200,000 in damage to the apartment complex. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
