Two accused of holding woman ransom for a Playstation are indicted

Two people were indicted Friday for allegedly binding a woman to a chair for six hours, shaving parts of her head, and threatening to kill her if someone didn’t bring them a Playstation gaming system as ransom.

The victim, 30, told police that the suspects held her at knifepoint Nov. 14 inside her apartment in the 1400 block of Harmon Avenue.

According to a police report released Friday, she was reportedly choked by Christopher Hunter while she stood outside her home with an acquaintance around 1:30 p.m. Hunter and his accomplice, Rosa Garcia, then dragged her inside and tied her to a chair with electrical cords.

For the next six hours, Hunter and Garcia allegedly tortured the woman by cutting off her hair and ripping her clothes, threatening to “find someone with AIDS to have sex with her,” the report says.

Hunter and Garcia, who once lived in the victim’s home and appeared to know the her, allegedly threatened to kill the woman if her acquaintance did not bring a gaming system by 8 p.m. The acquaintance said he was unable to meet the deadline, so he returned to the home asked for more time.

The woman, who was forced to take pills and drink alcohol while she was bound to the chair, told police that Garcia threatened to “cut off her head and show it to her children.” Hunter also allegedly hit her on the head.

Garcia allegedly took video footage of the victim’s hair being cut and emailed it to other people.

Metro Police were called to the location around 7:30 p.m., and Garcia reportedly untied the victim before they all walked outside. The woman’s wrists appeared to have been recently bound, and her hair clippings were scattered around the floor of the home.

Detectives said Garcia denied any wrongdoing while Hunter remained silent. Both were arrested the day of the alleged kidnapping, and on Friday, each was indicted on kidnapping, assault and battery charges.
