At least nine people were injured in a predawn pileup involving five vehicles near Industrial Road and Sahara Avenue.
Metro Police said a woman driving an SUV may have suffered a medical episode when she started the chain reaction by crashing into the back of a Buick that was stopped at a red light on northbound Industrial Road just south of Northbridge Street about 12:34 a.m. Saturday.
The impact pushed the Buick forward, causing three other vehicles to be rear-ended.
The SUV’s driver was rushed to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Two people in the Buick suffered from injuries described as moderate.
Everyone else had only minor injuries.
