Updated Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 | 10:19 a.m.

A pedestrian jaywalking on Maryland Parkway died on Christmas Eve after being hit by a man suspected of driving drunk.

Witnesses told Metro Police they saw a minivan strike the 60-year-old man as he crossed Maryland Parkway in front of Sunrise Hospital near Desert Inn Road.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified him as Roger Lee Pardue. His hometown was not listed. He died of multiple blunt injuries, the Coroner's Office reported.

Pardue wasn’t using crosswalks or a nearby pedestrian bridge when the accident occurred, according to a Metro Police release.

Officers arrested Arnoldo Perez, 21, on suspicion of drunk driving. He was unharmed and police allege it was his 1997 Nissan Quest minivan that struck and killed the pedestrian. He had one passenger who had minor injuries.

Pardue died at the scene.

Perez was being held in Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $2,000.
