The taxi long-hauling mentioned in Richard N. Velotta’s Tuesday column is a minor problem compared with the whole airport/Strip traffic mess.
Las Vegas really needs to reduce the dependence on cabs to get millions of travelers from the airport to the Strip. A major project such as light rail or a monorail would be the ultimate solution, but even something as simple as frequent shuttles to all the major casinos could go a long way to solving the congestion problem — not to mention a major improvement in the valley’s air pollution.
