Updated Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | 3:55 p.m.

Strong winds uprooted trees and damaged property in North Las Vegas on Tuesday night.

Wind gusts that reached 50 to 60 mph damaged roofs, uprooted about 15 trees and damaged several cars about 11 p.m. Tuesday, North Las Vegas Fire Department Capt. Cedric Williams said.

No injuries were reported, he said.

Lowell Oliver, a North Las Vegas resident, said he was in his house about midnight when the storm hit.

"Within five minutesm the wind was throwing the trash receptacles around like toys along with everything else that wasn't anchored down," he said. "It was like a mini tornado."
