Man suspected of shooting two people, killing one, arrested

Metro Police arrested a man Tuesday night suspected of shooting and killing a man and injuring a female earlier that day.

Gary Chambers, 45, was arrested on suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon.

Metro Police homicide detectives identified Chambers as a suspect in a shooting Tuesday morning in the 3600 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North. Officers had responded to reports of the shooting at about 10:20 a.m. to find a man and woman suffering from gun shot wounds, police said.

Both victims were transported to University Medical Center Trauma, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

Chambers was arrested without incident at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday near Lamb Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the male victim.
