Flash flood warning issued for Southern Nevada

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning that includes Southern Nevada and portions of northwest Arizona.

The warning is in effect until 11 p.m. Friday.

Areas included in the warning are Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Las Vegas Valley, northeast Clark County and southern Clark County. The strongest storms are expected to produce more than an inch of rainfall per hour and could lead to flash flooding in washes, low-lying areas and roadways, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for the region calls for a 50 percent of rain, and scattered showers and thunderstorms that could bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible through Friday evening.
